Centuries ago, at banquets and other social functions, you would often see the event graced by a professional Toastmaster. These days, many choose to continue the tradition by having a Toastmaster at their wedding. A Toastmaster manages and oversees the event by working with catering staff and similar personnel. The Toastmaster will be highly passionate and is a wonderful addition to your special day.
The Toastmaster will have had many meetings with the bride and groom before the actual wedding day. This will be to talk through the entire day from start to finish everything has to be covered so he can take all the pressure of the couple. He will then have a clear idea of the day and be supportive in every way, working immensely so the day runs smoothly. This allows families on both sides to relax and enjoy the occasion.
One benefit of having the Toastmaster meet with the bride and groom is it allows all three to establish an excellent rapport. The first meeting may seem awkward as the Toastmaster at that point is a stranger. However, through multiple meetings and with the common goal of ensuring a beautiful wedding, the Toastmaster becomes a trusted friend to everyone involved.
Every wedding is different, and they all come with hosts of different concerns. For example, in the instance of a marquee, you will need to make sure to have a rain plan with wet and dry arrangements, multiple plans for seating and a plan for first aid in case someone falls. These are just a few of the Toastmaster’s duties. The Toastmaster also have to make sure that there is a seating arrangement for the top table, and if there is a problem with Toastmaster will be dispatched to handle it.
One of the most important and memorable moment of the wedding is the speeches of the bride’s father (or other close member of the family), and then the speeches of the best man, groom and maid of honor. Of course the Toastmaster is happy to remain on hand and offer advice on how to arrange material, the length of the speech, content if necessary, the delivery, and on the day while he will not step forward; the Toastmaster will be standing quietly by to support everyone when emotions run high.
Many people believe that Toastmasters are only for incredibly formal weddings. Actually, no matter how formal or informal you want to go, a Toastmaster is an excellent addition. The Toastmaster will support the bride and groom and not try to upstage things. The Toastmaster’s goal is the same as that of the wedding party to make sure that everything runs seamlessly, so that the couple has an unforgettable day.
On the day of the wedding itself, the Toastmaster will arrive early and make sure that everything is set up properly. The Toastmaster will introduce him or herself to the banquet manager as well to staff, and make sure to be as familiar as possible with the venue. It is essential to have excellent teamwork between the bride, groom, guests, photographer food service, the receiving line, cake cutting, speeches, and all of the entertainment of the day. A Toastmaster is perfect for this job because he or she makes sure to maintain the continuity of the day by keeping an eye on everything.
Choosing a Toastmaster for your wedding is not a decision to be made lightly. This person is going to be there as a caretaker for your special day, and you want everything to be just right. You can find a Toastmaster on the Internet, and there are approximately 400 registered Toastmaster’s in the United Kingdom. These belong to the national Association of Toastmaster’s and two small guilds as well as other similar organizations.
